- An idea of where she watches: the living room, the kitchen table, or in bed

The install, in one sitting
Pick the screen she reaches for, then the player
Start from her habits. If the evening happens in front of the big television, the Apple TV is the screen, and she will hold the slim Siri Remote. If she watches the news propped against the fruit bowl or in bed, the iPad is. If her phone is never out of her hand and WhatsApp is her front door to everything, the iPhone may be the one she actually uses. Then the player: IPTV Smarters Player costs nothing and does the job; iPlayTV has a one-time price and the tidiest look on Apple screens, worth it when the Apple TV is her main set; GSE Smart IPTV, also paid, earns its place as a fallback because it can switch decoding engines.
Get the player from the App Store
The Apple TV has the App Store among its home-screen icons, and her phone or tablet has its own blue one. Type the name of the player you chose, check the developer on the app's page, and install. Skip anything calling itself TiviMato or Tivimax: those are unrelated products, not TiViMate for Apple.
Enter the login without fighting the keyboard
Open the player and pick its Xtream Codes option. On an iPhone or iPad, copy each value out of your WhatsApp chat and paste it into its field, which rules out typing errors. On the Apple TV, the on-screen keyboard is slow; an iPhone on the same Wi-Fi will usually offer to type into the Apple TV's text box, which lets you paste there too. Server address with http:// and the port, username, password, then save. The channel list and the guide follow within a minute or so.
Move the player into the top row
On the Apple TV, highlight the player's icon and hold the clickpad down until the icon starts to jiggle. Move it up into the top row, then click once to drop it. The top row is the first thing on the home screen, so the player belongs there. On her iPhone or iPad, press and hold the icon and drag it onto the first page, or into the dock, near WhatsApp.
Set what the TV button opens
The Siri Remote has a button drawn as a small television. Among the Apple TV's remote settings is a choice of what it opens: Apple's own TV app, full of movies to rent or buy, or the home screen. Choose the home screen. From then on, one press of that button always brings her back to the row where her player lives, whatever she has wandered into.
Fill her favorites and check the picture
Go through the channels she named and add each to the player's favorites, then open the favorites list and put the one she watches most at the top. Play each for a minute. If a channel lists but will not play, the app's settings let you switch its player engine over to VLC or FFmpeg, which usually rescues it. On the iPhone and iPad, turn the screen sideways once to show her the picture fills it.
Show her the remote she will actually hold
The current Siri Remote has a clickpad ringed for up, down, left and right, a Back button, the TV button, play and pause, and volume. Older ones call Back MENU and use a touch surface instead of the ring. Show her three moves: click to choose, Back to retreat one step, the TV button to get home. The Apple TV can usually switch the television on and change its volume too, so check that works and put the TV's own remote in a drawer.
If she would rather not have anything on the TV
From an iPhone, AirPlay sends a channel to the Apple TV, or to a television that supports AirPlay, as long as both are on the same Wi-Fi. For someone who lives on her phone, that can be the whole setup: open the player on the phone, tap the AirPlay symbol, choose the TV. Practice it together twice, since it involves one extra choice each evening that she has to remember.
Write a card for the TV and a note in her phone
Beside the TV, a card with three lines: pull the Apple TV's power cable out, count to ten, push it home again and click the player in the top row; if still nothing, restart the router; then message SWIVTV support on WhatsApp, who will reply to her directly. On her phone, the same three lines can sit as a note next to the player. Neither holds the password. That stays in your WhatsApp chat.
Watch her start an evening on her own
Put the remote, or the iPad, back in her hands with the screen dark. She wakes it, opens the player from the top row or the first page, picks a favorite, switches to another, then presses the TV button on purpose and finds her way back. Watch without helping. Wherever she hesitates, adjust the setup rather than the explanation, and run through it once more.
The snags, and how to clear them
The channel list is there, but the chosen channel will not play
Some channels arrive in formats that Apple hardware handles only with a particular engine selected. In the app's settings, pick VLC or FFmpeg as the player engine and try again. If one channel still refuses after that, message support with its name; if every channel refuses, check the renewal date first.
Pressing the TV button opens a screen of movies to rent
That is Apple's own TV app, which the button opens by default. Nothing is wrong with the account. Change the TV button so it opens the home screen, then show her that one press now returns her to the player's row. If you are away, walk her through it on a video call.
The player shows its login screen again
A tvOS or app update can clear the saved profile. The account is untouched. Enter the values again; on the Apple TV, type them from your iPhone, or do it on a video call while she holds the remote and you dictate the values from your chat, one at a time. If the values are refused, check the plan's end date, then message support.
The television says No signal
The TV has moved to another input, often after its own remote was used. Its input button brings back the HDMI port the Apple TV is plugged into; note that input's number on the card. If the Apple TV normally switches the TV over by itself, a restart of both usually restores that.
The picture goes soft or stops in the evening
A weak wireless signal where the Apple TV sits is the common cause. If it has an Ethernet port on the back, and not every model does, a cable from the router settles it. Where the internet provider slows video at peak times, a VPN to a nearby server can help. Otherwise, send support the channel and the time it happened.

Can the Apple TV run IPTV Smarters?
It can: the free IPTV Smarters Player is in the App Store on the Apple TV itself. Once the Xtream login is in, it fills its program guide and opens both catch-up and the film and series library, as it does on a phone. What does not exist is TiViMate for Apple: the similarly named apps in the store come from other developers.
Is iPlayTV worth paying for?
If the Apple TV is her main television, often yes. It has a one-time price, no subscription of its own, and the clearest layout of the Apple players, which matters to someone who watches every night. If she watches on an iPad now and then, the free IPTV Smarters Player is enough.
Can she watch on the Apple TV and her iPhone?
Yes, both can be signed in, since the plan counts streams playing at once, not devices. On a one-stream plan only one plays at a time; if she and your dad watch different things together, the two-stream plan covers it. Everything should stay in her household: your own home needs its own plan.
Can I watch SWIVTV on my Mac?

Do I need her Apple ID password?
Only if an app must be installed and she is not beside you to type it. The better way is to do the installs together, with her entering her own password. After that, watching never asks for it, and the SWIVTV login is a different thing altogether, kept in your WhatsApp chat.
