The install, in one sitting
Choose a player she can live with, and how she will steer
IPTV Smarters is free, signs in with the Xtream login and brings a full guide, so most LG owners begin there. Smart IPTV is the lighter of the two and, once its playlist is in, rarely needs attention again; after a free week it charges a single fee per television, and on an older, slower set it is often the better pick. Both work on webOS 3.0 and later. At the same moment, decide how she will steer: the Magic Remote can point and click like a mouse, or be used with its arrow keys like any remote. Many people find the arrows calmer than the pointer, and the rest of this setup assumes them.
Confirm the LG account is signed in
Look in the TV's account settings before you go near the store. Without an LG account, the Content Store shows apps but refuses to install them. If she has none, create one with her and keep its details in your own records; it is needed for installs and updates, never for watching.
Fetch the player from LG's own store
From Home, go into the LG Content Store; its Apps section has a search field. Type the player's name, check the developer on the app's page matches the player you chose, and install. TiViMate has no LG version, so anything in the store with a similar name is somebody else's product.
Sign in with the login, or send the playlist
In IPTV Smarters, take the Xtream Codes API login and fill in username, password and server address exactly as the chat shows them, the server with its http:// and port. In Smart IPTV there is no form: photograph the MAC address the app displays, then on your phone open siptv.app/mylist, type that MAC, paste the M3U link and send it. Close the app and open it again, and the channels appear. Save the MAC photo in your WhatsApp chat beside the login.
Slide the player to the front of the bar
The webOS home screen lines its apps up as a row of cards. A long press on the player's card lets you move it; put it first, so Home followed by one click always reaches it. Some LG sets show that bar as soon as they are switched on and some return to whatever input was last used. If hers offers a choice in its settings, pick the home screen, so the player is waiting when the picture comes up.
Tame the pointer before she meets it
The Magic Remote shows an arrow whenever it is waved, and that arrow is what confuses people: the screen seems to react to every twitch of the hand. Show her that pressing any of the arrow keys makes the pointer vanish and a highlighted box take its place. The wheel in the middle scrolls, and pressed down it acts as OK. Let her practice both until the pointer stops being a surprise.
Collect her channels in one favorites list
Ask her which channels she looks for, and write them down in her words. Then mark each one as a favorite in the player and open the favorites list to check the order suits her. If she likes to browse on a quiet afternoon, the rest of the 25,000+ channels are still there, one step further in, but the favorites list is what she should land on.
Show her the three buttons for every evening
Home brings up the bar with the player first. Back, the curved arrow, retreats one screen at a time and is the answer to almost every wrong turn. The wheel, pressed, chooses. Volume works as it always has; what the channel keys do inside the player is worth testing together. Show her where each button is with her thumb on it, not by pointing from across the room.
Put a what-to-do card beside the TV
The card says three things. First, unplug the set from the outlet, count slowly to thirty, plug it back in, press Home and pick the first card. Second, if nothing plays, check the router and restart it if its lights look wrong. Third, message SWIVTV support on WhatsApp; they will answer her directly and patiently. Leave the password off. It belongs in your WhatsApp chat, nowhere near the TV.
Let her run it once while you watch
With the TV off, the remote goes back into her hand. Ask her to turn it on, open the player, find her first channel, move to another, wave the remote so the arrow appears, make it vanish again with an arrow key, and get back to her list with Back. If any of that needs your help, change the setup rather than her habits, and try once more.
The snags, and how to clear them
There is sound but the picture is black
That is a decoding mismatch, not a dead channel. In the player's settings, switch to native or hardware decoding. Failing that, look for a second, lighter version of the same channel in the list; most sports channels have one. If one channel stays black after both, message support with its name so they can check the feed itself.
The arrow wanders about and clicks the wrong thing
The Magic Remote is in pointer mode, which happens whenever it is moved. Pressing any arrow key hides it. If she keeps knocking it into pointer mode, keep the remote flat on the arm of the chair between uses, and add a line to the card: press an arrow key to lose the pointer.
Smart IPTV opens but shows no channels
Smart IPTV keeps its list on the TV, so an app reinstall or a reset of the set clears it. You can fix this from your own home: on siptv.app/mylist, type in the MAC you photographed, paste the M3U link once more and send. She then only has to close the app and reopen it, with you on the phone.
The TV comes on with No signal on the screen
The set has come on showing an input with nothing behind it, often the antenna. Press Home and choose the player; nothing is broken. If it happens every evening, see whether the settings let the TV start on its home bar instead, and write the Home instruction on the card either way.
It asks for a login after the TV updated overnight
App or system updates sometimes clear the saved profile. The subscription is untouched. Enter the three values again, in person or on a video call while you read them from your chat. A rejection of values you are sure of usually means the plan has reached its end date; check it, then message support.

Is TiViMate available on LG?
No. TiViMate is built for Android devices only, and there is no webOS version. Apps in the LG store with similar names are made by other developers. If she is used to TiViMate from another home, a Fire TV Stick in a spare HDMI port brings it to the LG, though it means a second remote.
Can the Magic Remote be made simpler?
In practice, yes. Nothing forces her to use the pointer: the arrow keys and the wheel do everything the player needs, and the pointer disappears as soon as an arrow key is pressed. Some sets came with a plain remote without a pointer at all, and any LG remote with arrows, OK, Back and Home will do.
She lives alone. How do I keep an eye on it from my own home?
Keep the renewal date in your calendar, since nothing renews on its own, and pay from your phone when it comes up. Keep the login and the MAC photo in your WhatsApp chat. Tell her she can message support herself at any hour. Her home is its own household, so her TV has its own plan rather than a share of yours.
What if her LG is older than 2016?
Then the television becomes a screen and something else does the work. Plug a Fire TV Stick, or any Android TV box, into a spare HDMI port and it runs the players the old set cannot. Follow that device's guide, show her which input the stick is on, and leave the LG remote for power and volume.
